Paul looked over the men before wondering if this was some sort of trick. His plan was to walk up to a blade ship in the middle of an icy land to give a plan to Cassie. This guy was not that smart.

"Then I guess you are going to have a problem then."

He noticed a movement behind him, so he turned to see Macie running towards the door. Paul reached down and picked her up.

"You might as well come out Ruby. I think these guys can be trusted."

[Ruby]

Upon hearing the voice of her friend, Ruby sighed and stood up, brushing herself off as she walked over, retrieving Macie from Paul.
She looked at the all the men as she approached, memorising their faces.

"So who are these guys? I think I heard they were Yeerk fighters...?"

[gumby]

Ryan saw this newcomer and nodded.

"Yes, Earth Resistance Force or ERF. We have a plan for the leader, Cassie. We were trying to find an Animorph hideout, and our only sources told us of an Animorphs base in the south pole. so, here we are."

Paul wondered exactly who had told them about the location of animorph hideout from. It was not a common topic at a dinner table, so it had to either be a spy or an animorph. It was unlikely that it was from an animorph as this was supposed to be a secret operation down here.

"So you just heard that their was a base down here and decided to drop in on us? I am really not sure that was the best of ideas to carry out as this place is really cold and you didn't say that someone told you that Cassie was here."

Paul was really unsure as to whether or not he should try to find someone with a little more authority around here.

"What is your plan now that you know that she is not here? I mean are you going to try and find her at a different location or try to work with the people here?"

"We weren't old Cassie was here. We were just told that this was an Animorph base. They ain't real common you know." Hearing then ext question, Ryan almost laughed.

"Man, we ain't going nowhere now. We'll have to stay here, specially with night closing in. We'll make an new plan tomorrow, hopefull one that invovles establishing contact with another Animorph base. You have some form of communication twixt the bases right?"

[Ruby]

Ruby listened to the two men with Macie standing meerkat-like on her shoulder, moving her head to focus as each talked, and wondered who Cassie - seemingly the leader - was.

Not wanting to interrupt she looked in Paul's direction, waiting to have his brief attention with the question in her head.

Paul was sure that there was some way to communicate with other bases, but that was not a recruit's concern when coming here. "Not my department of introduction I am afraid."

He turned to Ruby who seemed to have a look that said I have a question that needs answering. "Uh...Ruby, why do I think you have something on your mind?"

[Ruby]

Ruby smiled slightly. She hoped she hadn't hurt any feelings.

"Sorry, I was wondering, who's this "Cassie" boss you were referring to....?"

Ruby flinches ever so slightly in surprise as Macie suddenly launched herself for Paul's shoulder again, then struggled to keep her laughter to a giggle.

"She REALLY must like you...."

Ryan sighed. Great, looks liek they were talking to a Rookie. He, along with everyone else, was starting to pull off their heavy survival suits. Pyro walked back and slammed the hatch shut, locking it into place. Speaking to the animorph greenhorn, Ryan said.

"Well, who's the commanding officer here? Is he or she here, and if so I would like to see him or her."

Paul turned to Ruby as she asked her question about Cassie. "Cassie is the commander of all Animorph forces as she was one of the original Animorphs. You'll learn more about her in one of your classes, so don't worry too much about it."

Returning to the matter at hand, he tried to remember who was running the academy. "If I had to guess, then I would have to say Seiya is top dog around here, but I don't know if you would be able to see him or not. He would probably want to verify who you say you are and what not first."

Ruby reached over to attempt to retrieve Macie from Paul as she continued listening, but Macie scrambled to the top of Paul's head.
Giving up, Ruby smirked and shook her head at the rat, looking back to Paul as he finished his answer.

'So I'll learn about "Cassie" in one of my classes.... I wonder what she's like....?' She thought to herself.

Ryan stood quietly during this quick exchange between the animorph called Paul and the girl who had walked in, something about the Cassie person. As this ended, he spoke up again.

"Well, I'd like to not waste any time. Do you know when and where I can meet this commander Seiya?"

Paul looked at this Ryan guy. He seemed to be really impatient as he just kept pushing toward getting to their headmaster. Paul was unsure if he should even try to help this guy find Seiya.

"Honestly, I don't really know what he does throughout the year, so that is going to be your problem. Besides, they will probably ship you and your guys out of here the moment another recruit is sent off to a separate faction.'

Ryan was about to speak again, when Pyro, who had been listening to the whole conversation, snapped at Paul

"Listen here buddy, we don't have time to stand around here chatting! We have a plan that could cripple the yeerk presence on earth and we need your morphing powers to help! So if you don't mind, just tell us somepalce he might be! The ship isn't that large, where could he be?" Some of the other resistance fighters were also muttering agreement, getting restless.

Sensing the hostility levels rise, Macie cringed for a moment, squeaking briefly as she leaped for Ruby again, diving into her t-shirt's pocket.

Ruby herself cringed slightly in fear, her head dipping ever so slightly, but keeping her ground as the other man snapped.
