Paul smiled at her comment of them being able to take care of a predator, but depending on who it was that may not be a possibility.
"Actually, if someone is in a predator morph and not in control, then I will morph while you run away. Sometimes it is hard to control a new morph, but the variety of morphs is great."
Paul gave a slight nod that anyone could morph into pretty much anything.
"You would have to start at small though. Don't want to get overwhelmed by a strong animal mind."

Ruby nodded in agreement when Paul said she should start out small.
"Would Macie's species be a good morph to start at?"
She smiled as she felt the tiny pink tongue lick her cheek.

Paul thought about it for a minute before replying.
"Every morph has its advantages, so even Macie's species could be useful as a morph. It all depends on the situation that you are going into."
It would be a little weird to go into a fight against the Yeerks as a small animal.

Ruby nodded thoughtfully.
"So morphing Macie would be good for a spy mission or something...?"

This girl was catching on quick.
"Yeah. Smaller morphs are better for gathering information and getting in and out of places without making a big scene."

Macie must have sensed this thought from Paul and rose to her hind legs briefly, keeping her balance long enough to bring her front paws together in front of her as though clapping. Ruby saw, got the message and giggled.
"So the bigger morphs are for battle, I assume... How big a morph can you get?"

Paul nodded at her comment about bigger morphs being for battle.
"I think on land that it is the elephant and in the water it is a blue whale, but size is not what you look for in a fight. All you really need is something with claws."

Ruby raised her eyebrows in surprise at the size of the morph one could do. Macie clapped again.
"As for claws... A lion, tiger or bear, or something...?"

Paul thought about it for a bit and tried to remember the most dangerous animals on the planet.
"Well those are traditional battle morphs, but you can use a bull or a crocodile in battle. A gorilla morph is also a good one. Then there are bird morphs, water morphs and then the random morphs that just are fun to try out."

Ruby tried to think how the bull, crocodile and gorilla would be useful in morph. Horns and teeth must be what makes them tough foes... But the gorilla...?
"Would I get a chance to try out the bird, water and other "fun" morphs...?"

There was always the possibility of getting to try a fun morph, but water morphs were a different story.
"The water morph may prove to be a little more difficult down here unless they fill up a huge pool for you to swim in. Everything else is fair game, but I would avoid bugs. There is a tendency of people almost getting squashed."

Ruby made a brief face of disgust at the thought of being squashed while in a bug form.
"I can't imagine even WANTING to be a bug of any sort... They don't seem creepy, but I'm not sure I want to know what's on their minds while they're scurrying about...."

Paul had to keep from laughing at the face she made from the squashed bug comment.
"Mostly, bugs are thinking about food, territory and mating. There is also a constant alertness for one's surroundings."

Ruby raised an eyebrow, smirking as she noticed Paul trying not to laugh.
"It's OK, go ahead and laugh. I thought all animals thought about food, territory and mating... But I guess we get control over that. Kind of a creepy thought though..."

Paul did not laugh as he thought of the most dangerous thing about bug morphs.
"The worst thing about some bug morphs is the hive mind. The queen somehow gets inside your head, which makes it harder to control the morph."
