Aubrey and Suji are likely going to be given a mission by Cassie to help reintegrate them both into the war. An idea that I had was that it could be an escort mission; a rescue mission would be a bit too much like the last mission in Dallas (and Suji's last mission after that), so I thought that'd be too traumatic, lol.
However, they could be escorting YPM, potential recruits, or newly drafted Animorphs. Does anyone have a character they'd like to play that'd fit that role? If so, it could make the decision process easier.
For that matter, Dean and Drake, if you have an idea for a mission that would tie into what's going on in Cape Town, that could also be a possibility.
Anyone have any ideas?

An idea that I have been toying with, but I'm not sure if it would fit with your mission, is that maybe the yeerks could be building an orbiting kendrona. If it gets built then it would be that much harder to wipe out the yeerk's food source. Perhaps the person Suji and Aubrey need to escort has some vital information related to it? I don't know if the orbiting kendrona is even a good idea, but I though i would just throw it out there to brainstorm. You know, since this is in the brainstorming thread.

I think your idea could fit, Drake. That way, we could set up the actual "stop the orbiting Kandrona project" mission later on for everyone else. So maybe this YPM person could be in some city close by to NYC, and Aubrey and Suji are sent out to get this person and bring them back to Cassie so they can tell everyone what they know.
And perhaps along the way (or on the way back) they run into some sort of trouble.

Here are my initial thoughts:
- The orbiting Kandrona shouldn't be big. It should be built to patrol a small-ish area, like a neighborhood or two. It's the prototype, afterall. The idea would be that sending out a couple of these with Controller "pioneers" would let them settle in places where they can't commute to a massive pool. This presents a bigger problem too because the middle-of-nowhere is where a lot of free human camps are able to eek out an existence.
- They should be traveling with someone from YPM, or a YPM rebel shows up. The rogue YPM person kidnaps their escortee, or the info the escortee is carrying (maybe what they're really escorting is a bunch of documents in a briefcase attached to someone's wrist). After all, YPM rebel might be worried it's going to be destroyed, and something like that would REALLY help them out. If it's not a rebel that shows up, it's someone traveling with them that turns on them. They don't kill the escortee though, so that person can still tell Cassie what they know.
I kinda like the YPM rebel thing just because while the YPM isn't for the Empire, that definitely doesn't mean that their interests completely align with free humans or the Animorphs.

What if the YPM goal isn't to destroy the prototype, but instead want to use it to feed their own low-profile yeerk pools. As in, as the prototype orbits earth and feeds the intended pools and whatnot, it also sends nutrients to the YPM secret pools.
It would relieve the YPM of some of their dependance on the empire. And at the same time the animorphs would have to decide if helping the YPM was worth letting the normal yeerks have their new machine.

I like the idea of something powerful enough to orbit from space and feed kandrona rays down on the planet, but I think that would be better for a longer-term plotline. Like, I think it might be better if the prototype is small to begin with, and maybe when the mission is over (one way or another) everyone thinks that's the last they've heard about it for a while. Then of course, later on, they catch win of a much bigger orbital kandrona machine thing.
Does that make sense?

Ah, yes, that makes sense.
So where would you need to escort this person with the documents to or from? Escort them from somewhere to New York?
Since you don't want it to be a rescue mission, but apparently animorph help is needed, maybe the terrain being traveled through isn't a path that can be safely traveled through under normal conditions. Like really dark tunnels, or a swamp, or past cliffs.
And perhaps animorphs needed to be sent because their bug fighter pilot would be detected in that area or something.

I agree with Suji. I love Kandrona idea, but I think anything we do right now (in this mission specifically) should be small scale.
As much as I like the idea of a YPM rebel showing up, I'm not sure how they'd find the Animorphs and escortee with the briefcase while they're traveling. It might be easiest to say that the YPM sends two with the Animorphs--the YPM with the briefcase, and the one that ultimately turns on them and runs off with it. Unless the YPM rebel had knowledge of this beforehand and planned an ambush? Or something?
(For later on) Having the Kandrona feed secret YPM sounds almost dangerous--what if one of the Yeerks figured out that their Kandrona was doing this, and then that lead back to the YPM? Do you think the YPM would want to take such a risk?
The Animorphs presence could be there just as extra muscle--and if they're going to be doing the escorting it most likely will have to be somewhere near NYC. Unless we want to have them traveling over long distances. It could be some small city close by that's being used by the Yeerk scientists/whoever to plan/develop this orbital Kandrona.

First off, I love that everyone is back and plotting together, this is the first (and in my opinion) the most important part of resurrecting the site I'll go ahead and let you in on some of the site-wide plot I've been working on (Cause you jerks thought of some it already >.<) The idea of a prototype kandrona is Exactly what I want for the experienced Animorphs (Ergo the ones who stuck around like you guys). Dean doesn't know this yet, but the reason Cape Town got axed is because that was were the prototype was built. The Yeerks were just covering their tracks. The idea I had was for the YPM to want to get the portable just as mush as the Animorphs want to destroy it. They'll cash when the mission happens and the Yeerks will learn enough about the prototype to begin building an orbital one. The plan will be for them to make a large one (Like in Animorphs #41) . Their ultimate goal is to make a station on the moon to complete their conquering of Earth. Of course none of the characters know any of this at the moment. Except that Cassie knows about Cape Town but couldn't get word out in time. So, there you go : )

Maybe they're suspected of being YPM, so the Animorphs have to escort them away from some area to a "safe zone." Maybe the area they have to go through has crappy terrain plus it's known for skirmishes between free humans and the Empire. Or it could be like, Taxxon feeding grounds. It probably depends on who (if anyone) wants to play some NPCs, and what they wanna play.
Edit:
It could totally be an ambush. And the whole thing could take place just somewhere near-ish to NYC (or not I guess). They might not be escorting someone to NYC at all, but rather to a drop location where a Bug Fighter will be able to pick them up.

I think it being a Taxxon feeding ground would be fun! Besides the occasional Hork-Bajir, I don't think this RP (or the other one, for that matter...) has seen many Animorph-y aliens running around. So that's my vote.

So my general outline, which is totally subject to anyone changing it on any whim they'd like to explore:
- Taxxons show up, Animorphs shoot at them. - It's actually that they are herded into a trap, in the form of a sinkhole that overturns the jeep. - They get surrounded by the overturned car. - They get saved, either by the YPM that will later betray them and take the case, or by free humans in the area. - The YPM whoever steals the thing. Not sure how they get away with it yet, maybe by being a super good shooter and stunning the Animorphs, or maybe by putting them in a hostage situation. In any case, it'll have to be a fast transaction, since more Taxxons will be on the way. - Somehow they get to the safe zone, which is a helicopter that picks them up. Maybe even by a rope ladder, since it would be too dangerous to land.
Characters:
Since only Aubrey and I so far are playing in this, I'd love for anyone to take up some of the characters. If you'd like to play any of the folks already described, feel free. I am also very open to changing the post to alter/create characters that you'd be interested in playing. We could also use someone to play free humans (if they're a factor) or the YPM betrayer, etc.
Totally optional, but I thought you guys might be interested. =)

It all sounds good, but considering this is a major plot point for the site I'd like you to hold off on playing it out until things get sorted out for the site. Both IC and OCC wise. We still don't know what the verdict on the academy is going to be, and that is were I want things to stem out from if we keep it.
So keep up the good work on plotting, its what we need right now, but hold off in any major story-lines for the time being

So halt the thread?
//Edit: I mean, because, I don't think it'd effect any stuff going on with the Academy and Aubrey and I have been planning it for over a week. =\ Plus, it'd be nice to have somewhere to post IC in the meantime.
