She stands about 4'11 and has dirty blond hair and blue eyes. . She wears glasses, and she's a sweats or jeans and tshirt kind of girl, never one to dress up a lot. She's always liked animals.
Personality: (at least two paragraphs consisting of 3-5 sentences each) Mel is a little shy in the social skills area; she didn' t know until just before the takeover that she had a mild form of autism. But she's friendly once she trusts someone. She's smart but not necessarily in a book kind of way, and goes between talkative and quiet. She's more talkative around people she knows.
She has to fight a tendancy to panic sometimes when there's trouble, but she's getting better, and her other weakness is a bit of impulsiveness. On the other hand, she is very determined, and often won't let go of something until she gets it, which can be an asset if she uses her brain right. Mel loves animals and sometimes interacts better with them than people, so animal morphing was very natural to her.

She had a bit of affinty for apocalypse stories but was shocked to find herself in the middle of one. She knows that her parents are dead, after the Yeerks hit the Chicago area, but she still doesn't know what happened to her sister; she hopes to find her eventually. She was on her own for a while, trying to avoid getting caught, until she tried to join Chicago, but was sent to Vancouver. She has also spent time in Los Angeles faction.
