This thread is here to discuss amending the constitution to add a 'No Sign, No Vote' rule to it officially.

Proposal:
The basic idea here is that if you don't sign the constitution you can't vote or run in the elections. This rule was in effect during our first elections but it isn't officially part of the constitution so I wanted to include it as our first amendmant.
My thinking behind this is that if you don't agree to play by the rules of the community you shouldn't benefit from the rules of the community. Also, someone who hasn't signed the constitution has no obligation to uphold it and I wouldn't want someone like that in a moderator or even administrator position.
What do you guys think?

Actually, I think everyone should be allowed to vote, wether they sign the constitution or not. Even if someone doesn't agree with what is in the constitution, they can still be an active and beneficial member of the site. And I don't think people should have their voice quashed just because they disagree with the constitution. I would rather they be honest about their agreeing or disagreeing with the site constitution. (U.S. citizens still get to vote even if they disagree with the U.S. constitution).
However, I agree with the part about not running in elections. Websites like this are different from countries and it is all too easy to 'play the system.'

The thing I'm worried about in this case is that too many people will choose that option. If they don't want to be moderators at all then what do they care? But if too many people do that then a most of the people choosing who is running the site are people who don't even believe in the system. Personally I think it takes a lot to not sign the constitution. You have to believe pretty strongly that the system wouldn't work because there are no obvious bad sides to signing it. You could not care either way and just sign the constitution and never vote (hopefully not) but my point is that anyone who doesn't sign it is making a statement about their beliefs.
And just because they aren't voting doesn't mean they can't be an active and useful member of the community. Voting only comes around once every six months. But this board is open to everyone to write in, signed or not, and hopefully most of the site building will be done in here.

Personally I agree to this. It's like sounds like registering to vote, which I support.
While there are those that will not sign I've noticed that just about everything on this site can be discussed (including the constitution). So non voting members still have an opportunity to get their voices heard, maybe swing a few voters in their direction.
