Simplicity pulled at her top as she walked toward the classroom. It snapped back into place easily when she let go, before she pinched the fabric again. She had worn a lot of different outfits in her life but nothing in her memory really compared to the morphing suit. As she got closer to the room she stopped playing with her shirt and instead ran her hands along her sides.
She stepped into the classroom carefully and glanced at the multicolored floor. It always managed to make her smile, plus she’d learned the teacher had put the work in himself. Sewing had never been one of her strong suits but it was still familiar in a way, Sim hoped she’d get a chance to talk shop with Jullian at some point. As she thought she noticed the younger boy instructor in the room. Simplicity walked over and offered him a hug.
“So, what are we up to today, sensei?” She asked while taking a step back.

Jullian ran a hand through his hair after Simplicity let him go, a smile on his face. "I wish I could say I was doing something exciting but I can't," he said honestly. He never seemed to have much fun anymore, he just taught. Not that there was much fun to be had on the Bladeship but somehow people managed. Jullian just wasn't one of them.
He sat back down on the floor glad to have his carpets back. He'd felt grateful that they'd been gone when Dustin had spilled the blood on the floor his first day but he'd missed them and now his room felt like his own again. "How have you been?" he asked, motioning for Simplicity to join him.

“Oh damn,” Sim puts a hand on her hip and sticks out her lower lip. Then her nose scrunched up and she stuck out her tongue in an attempt to lighten the mood. She sat down on the floor after Jullian’s gesture and grabbed a piece of her hair. “It doesn’t have to be exciting really, dude,” she shrugged, “anything’s better than staring at the ceiling usually.”
She looked at him trying to figure out how to word a response. Things had been interesting ever since she arrived, but more recently she had a chance to think about what was happening. Simplicity leaned back and turned her head toward the wall.
“I’ve been good, I guess. A little off balance but I’m recovering. It’s like all this is impossible, morphing into animals, playing hero, learning to fight the good fight. Every time I think about it I feel like it’s fake, something out of science fiction. Then I remember I’m living on a space ship and been fighting aliens for the past few years.” She turned back to Jullian and raised an eyebrow jokingly.

"Yeah, I know how you feel," Jullian said though few might believe he did. As the morph instructor many would think he was the most comfortable with morphing, and he was, in a way. But one of the things that made him a good morph instructor was that he never grew tired of trying out new morphs or the same morphs in new ways. He still found everything surprising and interesting.
"As for all the not-exciting things I was doing, does mopping count? I've been doing a lot of mopping." Jullian looked frustrated for a second which was unusual for him. He knew everyone saw him as the cheerful one and, like most roles, he'd grown a little trapped by their expectations. Especially around his students since they were all older than him and he had to show them he was the responsible one. Too bad he had teenage problems like any other sixteen year old.

“Glad to know I’m not alone,” She gave the boy a soft smile and tilted her head. Jullian might have been her teacher and an animorph a hell of a lot longer but she hadn’t fully gotten over the fact he was younger. From her perspective she had managed to keep that impression restrained. Though she had actually patted herself on the back last time she restrained herself from ruffling his hair. That probably wasn’t to subtle.
Sim’s smile faded and she turned her body toward Jullian. “No, not really,” she sighed with a straight face, “We’re going to have to fix that you know. I do not approve of the sour. I think we should start right now.” She paused for a beat than added in monotone, “Chop, chop.”

"I'll work on that," Jullian said with a little laugh, momentarily broken out of his decent into self pity. He'd been feeling pretty sorry for himself lately and he really had to cut it out he decided. There wasn't much he could do about his situation right now so he either had to find a reason to enjoy it or change the way he felt about it.
"But not right now because we have work to do," he said, reasserting himself as the teacher and gaining his previous level of excitement back. Simplicity had a morph he was dying to try a new exercise on ever since his smell test with Richard. He pointed to the open vent on the far wall and the desk he'd shoved under it. "The vents are big enough for a few cat morphs and the vent system is big enough for a fun game of hide and seek if you're up for it?"

She pointed a finger at him and narrowed her eyes before laughing lightly. So maybe she now had a mission, operation de-funk. It needed a better code name, regardless it gave her something to do in her off time. Now to be ninja about it was a whole other issue. Hopefully he wouldn’t turn into a dragon or something and chase her through the ship. Also, she got the impression the higher ups liked him better than her, they might actually let him burn her to a crisp. That thought made her miss fried chicken.
“Yes, sir,” she said with mock salute when he went back on task. She watched him move and waited as he pushed the desk. Simplicity blinked at the plan and leaned back a bit. “Alright,” she started, “That’s interesting. Who’s starting this fuzz fest than?”

"You of course," Jullian said with a smile as he walked back in her direction and began to sink into his morph. Morphing while moving was something he was trying to make sure every recruit could do before they left here. It was a pretty useful skill on the battlefields they were being sent to but he was having success with some and not others. Simplicity hadn't shown a talent for it yet but at least she wasn't like Alain who got down on all fours to morph so he wouldn't fall over.
"Rank does have some privileges," he said right before his canines sharpened into needle sharp feline fangs along with the rest of his teeth. He smiled with his new teeth as the spotted fur spread over his skin and his tail unrolled from his spine. He dropped down to all fours as he continued to shrink into the small cat, feeling like he was just shedding excess, clumsy weight and becoming a poised, strong creature. His nails sharpened into claws as the bones in his ankles creaked and shifted, turning into joints that would allow him to hang up side down on tree trunks. Whiskers grew out the side of his face and his ears swiveled towards Simplicity as he finished his morph.
