The first book of animorphs came out in 1996 and it was written as if it was present day. The originals were 13 at the time. That would make them 26 right now. Which is about right. So let's say 1996 was when Elfangor came to Earth.
Visser One initially got permission to start an open invasion in 1999 at which point major cities were attacked. However, it took much longer for the yeerks to subdue less populated regions of the world and they were being held off by a force made up of Animorphs, free Hork-Bajir and Andalites. But they were only delaying the inevitable and the full take over of earth was completely by 2006.
1996: Elfangor lands on Earth
1999: D-Day, invasion goes public. Major cities all over the world are attacked.
2006: Yeerks declare victory, take over is complete.
2009: A virus is accidentally released in an exchange between the Dallas Animorphs and the Yeerks. A resulting Atomic Bomb explosion eliminates the virus and most of north Texas
2010: Current date
