Suji smiled, eyes half closed as she looked at his face. She began to laugh quietly when he said he liked her too, but as he leaned in again a familiar voice called out from below them.
"Betrayal!"
"Shit." Suji cursed, still laughing a bit. She pulled away from him, unable to wipe the smile from her face. Of course this would happen. Of course. How could she have expected anything different? Suji stepped back, up another one of the stairs, and looked over the railing towards Junayd. He was barely standing straight, and he looked like he was going to lose his balance if he kept craning his neck up at them. The actual anger on his expression helped kill some her smile, but not quite all of it.
"We're in trouble," she said in a whisper to Alain.

"Maybe," Alain said before quickly claiming Suji's lips again. He had to stand on his toes a bit to do so since she'd gone back up to the landing but, for once, he appreciated his height. He wasn't going to let Junayd ruin the moment completely but after one more kiss he smiled and turned to look at Junayd, refusing to be too upset.
The literature teacher was leaning against a tree trunk. He'd seemed to have lost the will to keep looking up at them and was letting his head hang from his shoulders. He was still managing to sway a bit despite the tree trunk's steadying effect and Alain could just barely make out low, distressed murmuring.
Alain looked back at Suji. "I better go help him home."

Alain kissed her again, and Suji's stomach felt uncomfortably weightless again. She smiled into it, eyes instinctively closing. She opened them again when he pulled away. Part of her was inclined to tell him to leave Junayd to his own devices, that they spent enough time babysitting a grown man. But even as much as she didn't want to see Alain go, and as much as Junayd could annoy her, Suji wasn't that cruel.
Her gaze followed Alain's, returning to Junayd. He'd found something to brace himself against, but he was clearly fighting a losing battle with gravity. "Yeah, I guess you should." In a quieter voice she added, "What are the chances he doesn't remember anything?" She could hope, right?

Alain dropped his head at her response in a gesture of exaggerated disappointment that seemed to fit the relaxed night. Alain looked back at Junayd. "Well, I could drop him on the way home, maybe he'll hit is head and forget," Alain suggested with mock seriousness. "But then he may also forget all those wonderful poems he's written about you," Alain said, snickering a bit.
He sighed and turned to actually begin going down the stairs. Junayd had managed to pull his head up and was watching him so Alain gave him a peace sign. He didn't know how Junayd would interpret it but every where else in the world seemed to have picked up on the hippy sign and used it way too much. If Junayd liked peace signs as much as high fives maybe he'd calm down.
He turned back, a little of the earlier nervousness back. "I'll see you- uh, will I see you tomorrow? After school I mean."
