Age: 21
Birthday (01/09)
Gender: Female
Hometown: Originally from Listowel, Ireland
Face Claim: Imogen Boorman
Nationality: Irish
Languages Spoken: English, Irish
Description: Stands at about 5 feet, five inches tall and weighes around 130 pounds. Has long, shaggy blonde hair and dark grey eyes that seem to come alive with animalistic glee when excited or in combat. Arms are covered in scar tissue from rough living in the wilderness. Limps slightly in the left leg. Sometimes seems to have trouble hearing others.
Skills: Has extensive understanding of animals, is a good judge of combat potential in morphs, is competent at manipulating others.
Personality: For many, the yeerk invasion was a calling to stand up in defense of their world and their species, for Galvin, it was a calling to cut her losses and scarper. Bravery was never her string suit. Retreating desperately into the wilderness, she learned to fend for herself in the harshest ways possible, and in time, became the warrior that she could never have hoped to be had she stayed where she was. That said, she's no hero. Her new found fighting prowess extends only towards protecting herself.
She quarrels easily with others and tends to keep her distance from people. She is generally sarcastic, ill-tempered and quick to lose patience when given orders. As she abandoned humanity at the first sign of trouble from the yeerks, she knows little of the invasion and how to fight it, which is why she turns to the animorphs in the first place.
Bio/History: Marie Galvin was born in Ireland in 1989. She was the second eldest of three children. By the age of four she had been diagnosed with both Asperger's Syndrome (a milder form of autism) and a genetic disease called otosclerosis, that causes progressive hearing loss. She grew quite distant from her family in her teenage years, after the family had moved to Boston, and never quite recovered. She constantly worried her parents by emulating animals and starting fights.
Eventually, a school councilor recommended to her parents that she join a new organization called "The Sharing" in order for her to meet kids her own age. After Marie stopped showing up after three meetings angrier than ever, there were many hushed discussions of medication and "observation at mental health facilities". Marie ran away soon after, using the last of her money to transport herself halfway across America. A few years of living in poverty later, Marie had grown street smart and somewhat feral. And soon after panic began to arise in the streets and rumours began to circulate of Invasions by Alien Creatures, Marie decided to cut her losses and retreat to the wilderness until the madness blew over. Long story short: it didn't work out that way.
Starting Morphs:
Land: House-dog (Caucasian shepherd)
Bug: Weevil
Other: Bat
Scene with Parent:
"It's raining"
I looked up. "Huh?"
Dad sighed, irritation creasing the lines on his face. "It's raining!" he repeated, louder.
I glanced sideways out the window. So it was.
I nodded absently, then turned my attention again to the rats in the cage. It was funny, I could hear their squeaks as clear as ever but I often had to ask people to shout in order to understand a word they're saying! Conductive hearing loss the man had called it... though my parents are still putting up a rather remarkable show of pretense, as if sticking their heads in the sand was going to make the problem-
"Are you listening to me?"
Damn! Had he been talking?!
"Sorry, could you repeat that, Dad?"
I probably shouldn't be so hard on him, after all it can't be easy to accept that their thirteen year old daughter is going deaf, albeit very slowly. And to his credit, he complies:
"I said, if the weather improves maybe we could go the the Athea vintage rally next Saturday."
I smiled, and said that I would like that very much, and my father left the room smiling too.
Sometimes I think that maybe my family will pull together and survive, and that I can be a part of it. It usually takes just a few seconds for that feeling to evaporate.
Actual Flavenstein here!: Just to clarify, I don't have daddy issues or anything! I've just always want to play a chaotic neutral character in an RPG! XD
