Name: Jullian Sovann (I don't even remember if that was the spelling of his last name. Suji?)
Age: 16. Jeez they grow up so fast.
Birthday 08/08/1994
Gender: Male
Hometown: Somewhere in Maryland if I remember correctly...
Face Claim: Mark Indelicato
Nationality: American
Languages Spoken: English, Spanish
Description: Jullian is a lanky, sixteen year old boy. He should be all knees and elbows and clumsy movements but he carries himself with an odd grace and balance born out of his history more than any natural or practiced skill. His dark hair has grown out enough that it sometimes falls into his eyes. On the front lines that would have been an unacceptable hazard but in the academies and, occasionally, at faction bases, where Jullian likes to teach it's fine. His clothing on his off days is a mixture of scavenged gems and self-made articles, all mixing together to form an oddly beautiful style. When he morphs he is normally wearing whatever the cutting design morphing attire is, probably because he had a hand in designing it. Some of his designs catch on quickly, others are discarded as frivolous. Jullian doesn't mind. He enjoys experimenting and he doesn't mind spending time improving a design that has been deemed a "failure." To him it's just a work in progress.
Skills:
He can design clothing
He's an estreen/morph dancer
He can devour books (metaphorically speaking) in hours
Personality: Jullian has begun to grow up into a sensitive young man despite his war experiences. He enjoys making others around him feel comfortable and his patient and generally optimistic nature serves him well in that regard. He is never too busy to help someone out and he's never encountered a personality that he condemns. He tries to understand those around him and while he loves to talk (and will talk your ear off if you let him) he has finally learned how to listen and may hang back and let the others around him speak for a while.
His service record is spotless if a bit of a boring read compared to many other animorphs of his generation (as in those recruited around his time, not age wise). Jullian rarely saw heavy action and the few times he did he always accomplished his objective. He's brave and capable but he isn't a natural warrior and he was grateful when Cassie offered him a teaching position away from the front lines. He's flourished as a teacher and if his new duties have taken him away from those he cares about, it at least has given them someone to return to, someone they know is out of danger. It can be a cold comfort when reports of the latest attacks come in but Jullian knows he's doing what he's best at and, in doing so, serving his race in the best way he's capable of.
Bio/History: Jullian was "recruited" when he was 13. It was more of an adoption really. His family escaped to one of the first human refugee camps in Mexico but his older sister set off to join the war effort she had heard rumors about. Jullian, the youngest child in the family and the one everyone would least expect to follow in her footsteps, attempted to track her down a few weeks later. Looking back on his decisions he can admit he made them for many stupid reasons including not wanting to be the baby anymore. He had no idea what he was really getting himself into but he wanted to protect his family and he didn't want his sister to serve alone.
He never actually caught up with her. He was picked up by two animorphs on their way across what used to be the southwest of the USA. Matthew and Rian had just been freshly dispatched from the Chicago faction to begin one of the very first factions on the west coast. They took him along to Los Angeles and it was there Jullian began to build a life for himself.
Young as he was Jullian served in many trusted positions during his time in the factions. He trained under Rian before the young faction leader-to-be started the Las Vegas Faction with another one of Jullian's training mates, Ember. After Rian left Jullian was tapped by Matt to replace him as Second in Command. He later gave up his Lieutenant position in Los Angeles to take up the same position in Boston when Ember began her own faction. It was here his rise through the ranks abruptly ended when Ember was ambushed and killed by a controller with a grudge. Jullian was still dealing with the news when he got reports of the catastrophe in Dallas that killed so many. For days he worried about former faction mates like Aubrey and Sophie, as well as the rest of the Dallas animorphs who'd he'd briefly met on a trip through that part of the country. Even when he heard many of the ones he'd known personally had survived it turned out Rian had not.
It was too much for him and Zane was wise enough to see it when he checked in on the Boston faction after the disaster. Jullian nominated his replacement, not feeling up to assuming the faction leader mantel, and was allowed to take leave in New York. He was accompanied by Kovu, a fellow animorph who'd he'd served with in L.A. and Boston, and who'd he'd grown close to. He knew Kovu wanted to be where the action was and he felt guilty for dragging him out of it but he was glad that Kovu joined him and, along with a few others, they helped found the Animorphs Academy.
For a while Kovu was content to teach and Jullian realized he'd found his calling, but it couldn't stay that way. And, eventually, Kovu returned to the front lines. Jullian stayed and continues to be one of the Animorphs best instructors. He has also taken it upon himself to periodically take tours of the factions in order to teach any new recruits not sent to the academy and to pass on morphing skills he may have discovered in his experiments as well as to collect any new techniques discovered by others. Realizing how valuable many of the techniques were and that they'd be lost if he ever died, Jullian began writing a book. To date, it's the only book on morphing in existence.
