Since she's going to have to swing by the Academy, I figured instead of Nineteen ever getting to Cape Town, the ship she's on gets intercepted by either YPM, rebel humans, a small group of Animorphs, or a mix somewhere in between.
It could be transportation on a real "ship" (not a spaceship), so that it would more easily pass under the radar of the government. It would be slower, but perhaps draw less attention to itself (I imagine that a lot of cargo shipping still goes by boat since you can pack so much onto them).
Then, I guess Nineteen could be sent to the Academy because she helped out with the breakout. If anyone else was interested in introducing a young character that could also be sent to the Academy after being rescued you're more than welcome to jump aboard the Animorph train, lol.
If no one wants to play this out, I'll just say it happened and that's how she got to the Academy. I'll probably be posting in the Academy soon either way because I don't like waiting, it usually ends up in a loss of interest. Feel free to post here or PM me.

Also, before anyone gets caught up in how they could get their character into this I would bring up the idea that you can create an NPC to play in the thread if having your character there would make no sense but you want to play. I know Dean has some really cool ones for Cape Town so maybe they're on the ship.
Feel free to use Adamo and Zach so there is a reason she gets sent to the Academy.

I figure that most people aren't going to be able to actually get real characters into this -- they're mostly dealing with the fallout of what happened in Dallas. I'm not pressing too hard to say that the backstory needs to happen primarily for the reason that I don't think it has anything to offer to anyone else's characters, unless they're really keen on playing NPCs. Which they might be.
I was guessing Zach and Adamo would come into play, but it's just as easy for me to sit down and write out a backstory one day rather than roping anyone into doing this. I don't think we have enough people sort of sitting around doing nothing (IC wise) that they could really justify being in the area/being sent on a mission.
If I'm mistaken, however, I don't mind playing it out with whoever wants to. I'll likely get to posting in the Academy within a few hours, so if it does turn out someone wants to play a PC character for a rescue backstory, I'll do a bit of retconning when it comes to it. Writing the past and present at the same time is usually tricky or downright annoying, but the alternative (waiting around/forcing someone to play an NPC just so one character has a played-out backstory) is probably worse.
