It was early morning, probably way too early for anyone to be awake but Sable couldn’t sleep. He always had sleeping problems but now it seemed to get worse, it made him more restless. Wearing his morphing suit under a pair of torn jeans and his boots he walked along the hallways, looking for something... Or nothing in particular. He was bored and restless; maybe he’d go and practice his martial arts in the training room.
He paused when he saw an empty storage room, slowing to a stop before remembering that he was wearing his morphing suit and had recently acquired the power to…morph. Wordlessly he walked into the storage room, looking at his hands as if still amazed at the recently acquired ability.
What would it hurt to practice morphing? Getting the hang of it and such? Sable knew that if you didn’t practice something enough it’d be more of a problem than anything else. Blue eyes scanned to room as if he was trying to convince himself that it wouldn’t be an issue. It would be harmless wouldn’t it? It wasn’t like he could get in trouble for practicing something he would use once he was off this ship and actually fighting.

Paul had gotten up to get something to eat and left his room a little groggy. He started down the hallway, but stopped when he saw Sable. He wondered what he was up to. Paul decided to follow Sable as he went into the empty storage room. He thought that Sable was going to practice morphing and Paul wanted in on that.
"Trying to practice?" Paul asked as he followed Sable into the room. "You mind if I join you?" Paul needed as much practice as he could get when it came to morphing. He was not very good at controlling himself as a ferret, but he was making progress. He regained himself faster each time he tried it.
Paul knew it was better to practice with a partner just in case something got out of hand. He leaned against the wall to wait and see what Sable said. Paul was one of the newest recruits, so he always deferred to everyone before doing anything like this.

Sable was about to pull off his boots when he heard the voice behind him. Turning around he saw Paul, another new animorph who seemed to have the same idea Sable had. At first his answer was going to be a solid "no". Sable had always practiced things solo, but as he thought about it, maybe having someone to practice with was a good thing.
He looked at Paul before shrugging, going back to pull his boots off.
" If you want to," He spoke in a cool toneless voice as he set his boots on one of the crates against the wall before pulling his jeans off, his morphing suit entirely black. He didn't show that he was a bit uncomfortable with what was going on, he believed that he should be more professional than this. Again he glanced up at Paul with dark blue eyes before raising an eyebrow. "Paul, right?"

Paul began taking off his boots and setting them in the corner. "Yeah, and your Sable." Paul pulled his shirt off to reveal his dark blue morphing suit. He piled his clothes on top of his shoes and turned back to Sable to see if he was ready. Paul was trying to decide which morph would be appropriate to practice right now.
"So how we doing this?" He was asking about the morph choice since certain morphs could attract a lot of unwanted attention by people running around. He also did not want the two of them attacking each other or anything, so he leaned against a wall to wait on Sable.

The pale boy inclined his head slightly in a mute greeting. The Academy wasn’t so big that they wouldn’t see each other occasionally Sable blinked as he stood there, crossing his arms over his chest. The slight cool temperature of the blade-ship a bit more noticeable now, since he was just wearing a dancer’s suit. “Well, One of us can morph I guess and the other can be a ‘spotter’ I suppose. Just incase we lose control and panic, or something similar,” He spoke out softly before shrugging. ,“I think I am going to morph the Doberman Pinscher.” He added in afterthought. It seemed like a better idea than the cricket or pigeon. A cricket would be hard to find if he panicked and jumped or flew off somewhere; a pigeon could panic and fly high up.

Paul nodded in agreement about one person being a spotter. It was always safe to have someone watching your back just in case of some unforseen event. "Sounds like a good idea," Paul said in response to Sable's comment about the Doberman morph. It would be a lot easier to deal with an uncontrollable dog than a bug or bird.
Paul leaned back against the wall and waited for Sable to start morphing. He couldn't wait to see what kind of skills this kid had. He wondered if Sable could stay in complete control from the start or did he have to be called back to his human mind. Paul needed to remember that he was in control of the animal when in morph, but the call of the animal's instincts were so tempting that he almost wanted to let it remain in control.

For a while the silence stretched on as Sable and Paul looked at each other before it came to realization that it was assumed the younger boy was apparently going first. Not that Sable would have had any issues with it, it was just a slight surprise. He hadn't really had much practice at all with morphing.
"I guess, I'll start," Sable spoke again in a soft voice as he shrugged.
Mutely he stepped away from the wall to the center of the room, standing under whatever dim light available. Taking a few moments he calmed himself, like in meditation before he thought of his animal, the facial features and muscled and fit form of the dog. His blue eyes suddenly muddied to a chocolate brown before his ears slowly moved to the top of his head, just as the black and brown pattern slowly spread across his pale face. He heard, more then felt his bones crackling slightly as the fur pattern spread along his body turning his skin black and brown.
He kind of wished that the morphing process was a bit more..pleasant. But then again it was an alien thing, wasn't it? The fact that it worked without really giving any pain was something Sable was grateful for. He braced his feet slightly when he felt his legs reconstructing to that of a dogs, his fingers on his hands crackling and shrinking, adjusting to that of paws, and his face elongated, filling with sharp canine teeth.
All the time while he was morphing he kept silent, though he let his gaze flicker to Paul to check the other's expression. He himself wanted to grimace and he could only imagine what it would look like to someone else.

Paul watched as the younger boy started to morph. He knew the process looked disgusting, but he kept watching just in case Sable had any problems with the process. He noticed that Sable had looked up at him during the process which almost made Paul turn away, but he gave a reassuring nod that everything seemed to be going smoothly.
Paul wondered how well Sable could control the morph. He didn't want to be attacked by a dog even if he could just morph and fix the damage. The whole process really fascinated Paul. He always wondered how it was possible to change into an animal without any type of side effects.
Paul had looked away for a second and looked back to see how Sable was doing. Sable looked liek he was almsot finished morphing, so Paul thought it would be okay to ask. "How do you feel? Are you in complete control?" Paul wished that he had chosen a dog morph so that he could have some sort of battle morph. Paul stood there waiting for a reply.

Sable returned his gaze to in front of him when he had a reassuring nod from the other male. Soon the colors changed to that of a dog would see. Color blind Sable resisted the urge to panic before the morph made him fall forward as his spine finally realigned to that of a dog. After a few more minutes he had fully morphed.
The dogs mind was alight with curiosity and a demanding cry for it's answers to be met. What were the strange smells all around him? He knew there was a person there but that smell was pretty boring compared to the scents on the ship. Slowly he brought his head to the floor and sniffed at it curiously, his nails clicking on the metal floor. Sable had rather liked dogs before the invasion happened. He knew that the Doberman Pinscher was a good breed that was smart and strong. But it was still a dog. His ears perked when Paul had spoken and he raised his head, staring at the other. He tilted his head curiously with one ear fully perked up.
'Are you in complete control?'
For a moment he remained staring at the other, all his senses on alert before mentally shaking his head, remembering to not let his animal senses overcome him.
<Y-yeah, I'm in control> he spoke in thought speak, a little shakily. He would have to practice getting control faster, he was an animorph now and that meant he would have to react faster out on the field when they would be fighting.
subconciously the dog mind found that Paul wasn't a threat and his muzzle parted slightly, his tongue lolling out in a silly dog's grin. Again the dog was supposed to be smart and intelligent but now it wanted to go on an adventure and play. Sable mentally sighed slightly before sitting down and glancing around the room with the dogs greyscale vision. Things looked different from a dog's point of view. The storage room was full of boxes that were full of interesting scents. The dog's mind could really go for a ball or something. Again as if self conscious he stood up and walked to the nearest box, sniffing along the floor again.
Ball, toy... play... Smells, sniff around.

Paul watched Sable as he started sniffing around for something to play with. He didn't know if that was really it, but Sable was acting like the dogs back home which led Paul to believe that he was letting the dog help him figure out his new abilities. It was interesting to watch Sable sniff through the boxes in the room and look for a toy or something. Paul decided that he would turn into a Purple Martin to practice his flying skills.
"So are you having fun looking through the boxes?" Paul had to keep himself from laughing at the sight of a tongue hanging out and sorting through the boxes. He would have to remember to get a dog morph later on in the year. It could prove useful for out running certain people.

Sable turned around and peered at Paul again, wagging his tail slightly at the other before he trotted back, head lowered a little sheepishly. He was almost caught in the dog's mind which wanted to play. He was in control now, he'd have to practice a lot but for now... It was Paul's turn to morph, Sable didn't want to seem rude.
<Alright 'm going to morph out now.> He spoke calmly as he gazed up at Paul. With his ears perked up he looked around the room again, amazed at the differences of the dog's vision.

<Alright 'm going to morph out now.>
Paul knew that it meant that it was going to be his turn. He was not looking forward to the morphing process, but it was still going to be fun to fly around the room and stuff. He had done it once and gotten trapped in an open vent that someone had covered. He flew around the entire ship trying to get people to help him out.
"Well, lets hope I don't do anything stupid after I morph."
He watched as Sable morphed back to his human form. It was not any more pleasant the second time that was for sure. He would probably get used to the sight of it, but the sounds always got him.
