Stevert:
So I keep meaning to have Rian mention somewhere the training he asks the other animorphs to do but it just never seems to come up in the rp. Back in his other factions he used to come up with random exercises for people to do to help with their morphs and he was supposed to have his faction try to do them but it is kind of hard to work in.
So I figured I'd post what the exercises were and ask you guys for some input on any changes you want to make or any training exercises you have come up with and then we can repost a list somewhere and just refer back to them in the rp at random points like, "Stevert and I were running the obstacle course when...."
And the move to the air base is a good ic reason to instate things like this if you like the idea.
So here was they are:
Hide and Seek
This could either be played with people or flags. Basically flags are put in random places and you have to use the variety of morphs avaiable to you to get at them. Last time we did this there were ten flags and they were stuck places like in a tree and in a dark cave and Matt and I used our morphs to smell them out or dig them up or stuff like that. For a more detailed account there is the Might Morphing Teens thread in Chicago.
Obstacle Course
There would be different ones set up for different sizes of morphs. Like one for dog size morphs. Maybe a smaller one for things like meerkats and squirrels, maybe even involving tunnels. Obstacles are anything you want, things to jump over, duck under, climb, go through. When we last did this it was a really simple jumping course for Tim's and my fox morphs. Thread: Fox Challenge, Chicago
Quidditch
Unfortunately not actual quidditch but it did involve a golden ball. Basically there is a small, light, plastic ball and bird morphs carry it and drop it and other bird morphs try to catch it. Point of the game is to not let the ball hit the ground. Thread: Meeting the Peoples, Chicago
Air Tag
There was also another version of the above that I came up with that I couldn't figure out how to get to work. Basically bird morphs would have some sort of rip away flags attached to their feet and the point of the game is to rip away everyone else's flag while keeping yours. But I wasn't sure how to make the rip away flags.
Flying Practice
This is a more focused flying practice just teaching new morphers about thermals and winds and such. The first part of it is flying as high as possible through flapping. Then find thermals. Basically just running through all the things birds can do and practicing flying. Thread: Training, Los Angeles.
Sparring
So I figure we could have similar morphs spar to help develop fighting skills. Like Rian's wolf and Stevert's African wild dog. There would be a ring and we would have to fight. The problem being that there is no real way to make it safe. We can't pad teeth or claws or anything like that. So safety would rely on the morphers to control their morphs. And if all else failed then we could always morph out the damage. Still, I don't think it inspires team work to have your mate rip your throat out, even if it was an accident so not sure if we would go with this idea.
Fighting
And this idea comes from the sparring one above. Basic martial arts training for humans. Their main weapon isn't their human bodies anyway but then again how often do they end up as humans in the middle of a fight? If you have to demorph in an emergency and are stuck as a human you might want to know how to defend yourself. Need teachers though. Luce could probably be a teacher here. And 19 later when she joins.
Morphing Practice
So throughout the rp people have mentioned morphing particularly fast due to practice but also how well you 'click' with the animal. The connection I made was that the more time you spent in morph the more you understood the animal, the more you 'clicked' with it and so the faster you are able to morph it. Morph practice would just be about three things; morphing quickly, morphing in difficult situations, and morphing a lot.
So really there are three different exercises that could be run here. One where people kind of morph, spend time in that morph and just try to get in touch with it. This might not even be a doable exercise and instead might just be suggested that people spend time in morphs and then can keep track of their morphing time every week or so and see if it is going down.
The second exercise could be combined with the obstacle course though it would have to start with something more basic like just trying to morph while running. Later it could go to trying to morph while running the obstacle course or something.
The third exercise might consist of constant morphing and demorphing for maybe and hour or two or so, just trying to push the envelope on how much morphing you could do in a short time and hopefully increase morph stamina.
So what do you guys think?

velcro. totally velcro. or clothes pins. (as in, string tied around feet, tied to clothes pins, flags in the snappy part so that a tug doesn't hurt.)
Stevert:
Hmm, I thought Velcro as well but not every bird might be able to rip that off. Sure, a hawk or an owl probably could, but what about a pigeon or seagull? But if it was loosely tied with string, that would work.
Now, for Hide and Seek. In Chicago, you guys had a whole forest to play in. We may have to adapt that to the base. Maybe the stuff is hidden in the desert? Or maybe around the lake that Ray, Nadia, and drake found?
The obstacle course is a good idea. That would allow each person to be able to efficiently use their morphs better.
For Quidditch, maybe we have teams? Becuase some birds just wouldn't be able to work as well as others. I doubt a cardinal or lark could steal a ball from a vulture easily. But an owl or hawk could steal it for them and the small birds can merely harass.
Nothing to say about Morphing Practice. That idea is great.
Rian:
Velcro was my first thought too back when I had the idea. But like Stevert pointed out it may be both difficult for the smaller birds (cardinals, blue jays, canaries) to rip off and hard to obtain and work. I don't think anyone put in their background skill set being able to make stuff like that.
The clothes pin idea is really good though. Maybe not even something as big as a clothes pin. Maybe like a paper clip. Hmm.
Also, about the Quidditch idea. Despite the name it wasn't supposed to be competitive. It was more of a game of catch. But your idea could make it competitive. So how would it work? Like soccer kind of and there are goals?
Oh and there was an idea I forgot to mention. I'll modify the original message I guess to include it but I was thinking sparring would be cool too. Just wondering how to do it without people getting seriously hurt.
Drake:
This sounds like fun. To bad Drake moved to dallas. We will have to do something like this there too, eventually.
Just wanted to say that the lake that Drake, Ray, and Nadia found was actually the tail end of Lake Mead (the lake behind the Hoover Dam). So yeah, I isn't really there anymore. However, there was a story of some houses that got covered by the lake when the dam was built, so they would probably be visible again. That could be interesting...
I think there was something about a sunken airplane too.
Stevert:
Sunken airplane? Cool! Be even better if it worked. Can you imagine the yeerk's terror when they see Steve bearing down on them? They be so scared that he would scratch the pavement.
But as for Quidditch, I've no clue really. I thought that it was supposed to be competitive. My bad. But we could have two teams, based on number and morphs. Like, Luce and Steve probably have the largest morphs. That would either put them on different teams, with the others evenly mixed, or they could both be on the same team while everyione else is on the other team. And we could do this on the airbase roof. At one end, we set up a hoop (maybe a hula hoop or a barrel without a bottom,) on it's side that the person with the ball would have to through the ball through to gain a point. Each side would have a hoop. Each team would try to score on the other side. Make any sense at all?
As for sparring. That is an excellent idea. Pitting two (or maybe more) people against each other to fully develop their fighting capabilities. Like, in Rian's example, if Steve and Rian were sparring, Rian might know a trick that Steve doesn't. If Rian uses that trick, then Steve can later use it in sparring or in a real fight to gain an advantage. And maybe we can try fighting with one person as human and the other person morphed. Just maybe not with very deadly morphs that could kill before the injuries can be morphed out.
