Tisoc:
Life settled into a routine for Tisoc. She was assigned to guard duty in the One Wall Center as part of her cover. The Sub-Visser thought that any yeerk that would sympathize with their human hosts might try to free these uninfested humans. Either that or they would at least try to make the humans more comfortable. That made it a good place to start looking for the members of the Peace Movement.
She walked the halls and watched the prisoners on each side cry and scream to be released. One man was screaming something about a constitution or maybe it was a bill, Tisoc wasn't sure and she didn't want to search Bryan's mind to find out.
She wouldn't admit it to herself but she was a little frightened by Bryan's mind. When she had first infested him she had done the usual and searched his memory. Everything was as it was supposed to be, his memories were intact but it was still like walking a ghost town. It was as if no one was there. There was no presence in the mind, it was as if Bryan had left, as if she had been given an empty body. Many yeerks complained about the constant presence of the mental voice of their hosts, but if they had felt the complete lack of presence that she had felt maybe they wouldn't have been so quick to complain.
Only in the past couple of days had Bryan began speaking to her sometimes. It was extremely unnerving when he had first spoken up, the night before their flight to Vancouver. It was as if one moment there was nothing and the next moment he was there. Since then she had wondered if she should go to a doctor, get this host checked out, but she had been too afraid. If this host was found unfit they might give her a Taxxon or something worse. So she had kept quiet and tried her best to hide her fear from Bryan.
She looked up at the clock and was glad to see that her shift would soon be over. She fiddled idly with the handheld Dracon beam at her waist and waited for the next three minutes to go by.
After she got off work she normally went home and had dinner with Yant 457. The time spent with Yant was much more useful than her time spent here, at least that is what her intuition told her.
Finally the last minute passed and the badge she wore on the front of her uniform gave a small beep indicating the end of her shift. She gratefully left the cries of the hopeless behind.
The yeerks still didn't have proper transportation working in this city so Tisoc had had to find her own. She had requisitioned something called a "bike." She didn't know how to ride this vehicle but it turned out her host body did and apparently one never forgot.
She picked up her bike outside of the One Wall Center, it wasn't locked since no one would steal it, and made her way home. It was only a twenty minute trip and her host body was in good shape.
She stopped outside of her apartment building and put the bike over her shoulder so that she could carry it up the stairs. The elevators in this building didn't work, in fact nothing electric worked since the electricity grid was still down. Glorious Yeerk Empire indeed. They should either get the electricity back on or convert the whole city to more suitable energy sources but with cities like New York, LA, Washington, Paris, London, Sydney, Cape Town, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and many many others her host could name, Vancouver was not a top priority for the Vissers. Even the Sub-Visser of this area was working harder on subduing the area as opposed to rebuilding. So people like Tisoc were currently stuck without electricity. Luckily Yant's stove was gas powered. She still laughed every time she thought about it but as primitive as it was it worked.
She let herself into her apartment and let the bike rest against one wall. She quickly changed out of the work uniform and put on more human like clothing, then she headed across the street. She had been friends with Yant for a couple of weeks now and she hoped tonight he might let something slip about the yeerk peace movement that she was now sure he was a part of. Did he trust her enough?
