Aubrey was angry and she had every right to be. Not long ago, Suji would have been furious right along with her. But she'd found that being angry was exhausting -- even the idea of it was making her want to go curl up and sleep. Or maybe that was the alcohol. Either way, there would be plenty of time to rage about the injustice of it all. For right now though, the three of them were alive, and they were together.
"So yeah, we'll fight." She walked closer to them. "If it weren't for those slugs, though, none of us would have met." Suji didn't come out and say that that made it worth the war, and she knew even hinting as much was a horrific thing to do in the face of humanity's enslavement, but... There was something in her gut, something that insisted that war was terrible, but good things came from it too. Wasn't that the way all wars were? She wouldn't have been born in the United States if it weren't for the Korean War, for example.
"Silver linings, right?" Suji smiled, weaving in place. It probably wasn't like her to be so optimistic, but for a night, at least, she could let the worries of the world be distant things. "I mean, which one of you ever thought you'd be standing at the South Pole, let alone on a spaceship."
