Having found his room and explored it a little bit, Dustin returned to the kitchen where the other guys seemed to be gathering. They were talking about lima bean recipies or something, which didn't really interest Dustin, and so he began searching other cupboards as well.
There were pots and pans, an assortment of soaps beneath the sink, dish rags. Dustin tried the sink. Water sputtered out, but it was all rusty looking. "Gross." It cleared up after a bit, but every once and a while a bout of rust would show up again.
"So, lima beans and rusty water, eh? Sounds like we'll have a feast tonight. I suppose we could have oranges too, but I'm betting we'll be sick of those real soon." Dustin shrugged, unsure if he wanted to gorge himself on oranges or not.

Suji came back downstairs after inspecting her room. The three guys were going through the cabinets, and for a moment she didn't say anything. She just watched them. This was her faction. These were her new factionmates. She was supposed to lead them. Right now they just looked like a bunch of hungry college boys in goofy outfits. And she wasn't exactly a picture of leadership herself.
Adrian said something about the power being off, which brought her back to reality. She walked over. "What have you you guys got?" She saw Dustin messing with the sink, and hear about the rusty water, frowning. "There should be gallons of bottled water somewhere nearby -- let's pull out one of those and cook with that for tonight. I'll see what I can do about the sink soon enough, but our first meal should definitely be unmetallic."
In the sink cabinet that Dustin had opened, she saw a flashlight, and grabbed it. "I'll go see about the power. Probably just the fuse. Richard, want to come with, or are you working on the ingredients for that recipe?"

"I'll take the water," Adrian said, putting the cans of lima beans down on the counter. If Dustin and Richard could make something edible out of them they were welcome to try. Adrian certainly didn't know the first thing about cooking so, in this case, his energies were best put to general labor uses.
He wasn't sure where the water would be stored but he assumed the people who had set up this facility were just as rational as he was and would store it some place it made sense to. If it wasn't in the kitchen it was probably because there wasn't much room. The upper cabinets were filled with canned food, the lower with the type of stuff that wouldn't go bad right away like rice and dried pasta and even some dried fruit. All wrapped up in plastic of course, or something that looked like plastic anyway, to keep it safe from the bugs.
So he decided he was going to go looking for a closet or a store room. That is where he would put necessary supplies. He left the kitchen and began walking down the hall where their rooms were located. Between two bedroom doors was what looked like a linen closet, probably had been a linen closet. Adrian opened it and smiled. There were indeed some blankets, towels and such on the top shelf but the other two shelves were devoted to flashlights, batteries and, bless Cassie, assorted weaponry. It wasn't much, just a couple of utility knives, hand guns and a couple of spare dracon beams but he was sure it would come in handy. "I found the armory," he called down the hall as he grabbed one of the knives.
He disengaged the safety and pulled the spring. The knife opened with a quite click and it looked sharp enough. The blade was smooth though so he carefully closed it and put the safety back on. He reached for the next and smiled when he saw the blade on this one. There was a slight hook on the end and the back edge was serrated. Much more useful. He slipped it into his morphing suit without even wondering if he was supposed to or if Suji wanted to hand out the weapons. Then he bent down and pulled out two jugs of water that were in deed stored on the floor of the closet. "And water," he added as he turned back towards the kitchen.
