Sable glanced between the members of the group, as well as the new female Nineteen. The first thought that came to his mind was to tense, go on the defensive. She was a fighter, as well as being a bit bigger than him in height and muscle. He had never been easy to frighten, for whatever reason. But there was the instinctual rise of a healthy respect for the other. He blinked before silently averting his gaze to the other male, Jon, who he saw give him another slight look from the corner of his eye. He was used to ignoring those looks when everything was normal, before the invasion.
Now, being stuck in the ship for so long with a crowd of people and no fresh air, he was easy to irritate. He wasn’t the fuzziest person, but he was sure he wasn’t the only one who was feeling restless and a little claustrophobic..He was sure he heard of a term for it...
Glancing behind him for a solid object he leaned back against the counter behind him, crossing his arms over his chest to ward off whatever sense of cold was making him uncomfortable. Or was it the other way around? He wasn’t ‘cold’ in a physical way.
“Then, I’ll stay here with Xander...and pick a movie for when you get back.” He spoke out soft-spoken in his usual cool tone. He turned and glanced at Xander in response, it personally didn’t matter to the effeminate male what movie was picked.

"Thank you," Gage said with an exaggerated sigh, smiling over at Nineteen. Maybe this girl wasn't so weird after all despite her name. "I thought I was the only one that noticed. What's up with that? Half the girls I knew back home would have come down here except, like, they didn't," he ended frowning.
He'd never given it much thought but why was he the only one from Union that had come down here. A lot of them had seemed excited about the prospect of being an animorph, they all knew who the animorphs were and when Tess had said she was going Gage had immediately signed up. Tess, Matt and he'd heard Jullian and Kovu were even gonna be in this place. Practically home. Except there hadn't been an influx of Union animorph recruits. And not just among the girls but none of the guys had come either. What was up?
He shrugged. "Maybe they'll come next time but I feel like I will have been shipped off by then so what's the point." He shook his head sadly. "Oh well, let's eat," he went on, switching tracks quickly. "You guys should find the movie section and pick some stuff out for us to choose from. We'll be right back," he finished, walking toward the door.

Xander stood with his arms crossed. He felt like joining in the jesting several times but the topic always came back to school for some reason. Every time they did his jaw clenched, especially when it came to talking about science. Honestly he thought he had gotten rid of any major buttons for people to push. For the God’s sake, he didn’t get pissed at Kovu, and the teacher inflicted bodily injury. Maybe he should have his head checked or something. However he did manage an amused snort at Nineteen’s bookworm comment.
“True,” he shrugged, “you birds are a rare commodity. Just try and use your power over us lot for the forces of good. If not use them for entertainment.”
He raised an eyebrow at Sable. As far as he was aware, he had yet to express if he was going or staying. Never the less he figured it couldn’t hurt.
“Sure Mate,” he moved toward where the movies where and asked Sable, “Whatcha in this corner of the ship for anyway?”

Sable’s gaze followed Xander as the other walked to the movie shelf, stacks of DVDs and tapes visible but the titles weren’t obvious. For a minute he thought of the others question and returned his glance to the second room where the books were kept. “I was looking for something decent...to read,” He replied as he glanced around the present room seeing a mess of loose papers and equipment. It then became apparent that this room had a lab-like set up. Slowly he felt an eyebrow rise as he looked around again, “And you?” he added in a slightly inquiring tone.

The guys seemed to respond with varying levels of acknowledgement about her comment on the gender ratios, so she assumed that it wasn't just her: the Academy most not have all that many girls. She didn't really care either way. She'd spent more time amongst males in the past few years, if only because she'd been paired against them for gladiatorial matches.
And that didn't exactly mean they'd really gotten time to bond.
She headed out after Gage, before looking back at the Jon kid. "Stayin' or goin', amigo?" She jerked her thumb towards the door.

Jon didn't care, really, what movie was picked. He'd never been a big movie-goer before the invasion, but that had been more due to lack of time and money than any sort of distaste for it. He wasn't sure what had been out and popular before he had been infested--or what sort of movies you'd really find on an alien ship, tucked away in the cold depths of Antarctica.
Jon shrugged slightly at Nineteen. "Yeah, sure. Comin'." He turned to follow Gabriel, scratching the back of his neck. If they were going to be watching some movie, maybe Jon could scrounge around the kitchens and find some popcorn. He hadn't tasted that sort of buttery, airy goodness since he'd lived in Seattle. And that had been awhile.
