“Promises, promise,” Xander laughed and stepped into Nineteen’s room. He’d had to room with girls before coming to the academy and pretty much everyone got over the gender thing pretty quickly. Since everyone now had their own rooms the mystery of the “girls” rooms had returned. Standing in one now he felt silly about it honestly, because frankly he did couldn’t find one mystery to justify the thought.
He smiled and put his hands in his pockets as he followed Nineteen out. In the party room he stopped in the doorway and let out a low whistle, then continued on in. Xander talked with her idly, leaning on the table casually trying to give her just a little more cover. Hearing a change in tone he looked over his shoulder and saw the woman from earlier.
“Can’t do anything,” he stuck his tongue out at her and handed her a cup. Xander poured one for himself and gave the woman another glance. Shrugging he turned to Nineteen, “I’m gonna go see what the third amigo is up to, join if you’d like.” He raised the glass to her in a mock salute with a smile and stepped away from the table. At the woman in purple he touched his hat and nodded at her.
It was rather easy to find Gage since it wasn’t like the place was packed. His only pause was caused by seeing Kovu and Jullian talking. Shaking his head at Mr. Bubbly and the guy that shot him he went back to walking.
“What’re you two up too?” He smiled at Gage and Paul.

"I sir," Gage said, with one eye on Cassie, "am trying to have a good time. Which should be easier now that you and our girl have brought the goods." He'd been a little surprised when Kovu had condoned the use of alcohol but as he'd walked away he'd been reminded of the fact that Kovu, despite his scary, insane, hannibal lector teacher persona, was a sixteen year old boy and liked getting up to trouble like the rest of them. It made him a little sad to think of how he was leaving the Academy soon. If he had known this early he would have tried harder to corrupt the teachers.
"Gabriel, Gage, Legend, ma'am," Gage said when Cassie asked for their names. He wasn't stupid. He knew who the leader of the resistance was and who held everyone's leashes, including his. He wasn't about to insult her though he did have to strongly resist the urge to either say something flippant or to flirt. He was constantly surprised at how young everyone was here. She wasn't that much older than him and he could probably pursue some sort of romantic relationship if he didn't care at all for his reputation or her's. Not that he'd have that good of a chance but he believed there was a chance with every girl so he wasn't letting that deter him. No, he just didn't want to be that guy that was known for going after every girl no matter how improper it was.

Paul suddenly found himself in a group of people that he was not formally introduced with and that sort of made him nervous as it left him at a disadvantage. He knew Xander and Nineteen, but was still lost on who the apparently important lady and man were. He figured one of them must run this place and that was why they were trying to get to know the new recruits. He didn't know how to act around those with some sort of authority and decided it was best not to say anything until spoken too.
Paul thought that this was a good plan up until the lady had asked their names. Now he was stuck having to speak and would probably make a fool of himself. "My name is Paul. It is a pleasure to meet you." Paul tried to keep it short and simple, which would keep him from sounding like an immature child if the conversation continued on. He was glad that there were others there to keep the conversation going and keep away from him having to answer questions about himself.

"Me? Go all out? No, never!" Kovu laughed at the small humor. He tensed a bit when Cassie entered the room. It was hard not to feel intimidated buy her presence, and he felt the urge to bow, or kneel, or, something. Instead he stood there with the normal posture of a guy who felt somewhat confident.
As the drinks started to get passed out Kovu tensed a little, he still remembered full well what happened last time he got a bit tipsy. He dumped his drink into a plant that someone had decided to use as a decoration. After word he quickly leaned over to Jullian and softly whispered into his ear.
"I wouldn't drink to much if I were you, we wouldn't want a repeat of Matt's birthday." Kovu leaned back and winked. Tonight was a night for fun, but not too much fun. He walked over to the DJ to see what music was in the selection, he had to be absolutely positive that there was no Taylor Swift songs on the list.

Sable picked up a chip and had just reached to nibble at it when he heard a voice behind him that wasn’t familiar. Turning around he saw the woman and older more formal looking man. His first thought was to stiffen since the man was…intimidating. Seiya Had Sable met him before? Finally bringing the chip to his mouth he nibbled at it before his gaze slide to the shorter female who had spoken. She announced herself as Cassie. He had heard whispered stories of someone named that as well…But… “ I’m Sable” He spoke after a moment so eating his chip. His tone was quiet and a bit on the monotone side. Almost dismissive in a way he looked at her blankly. He didn’t smile often, it was almost as if he had forgotten how to.
(sorry for the short post. xD;; )

"Gage, Paul, Sable," Cassie repeated, looking at each recruit as she named them. Remembering names had always come easy to her but she'd come to value the talent a lot in the last couple of years. It made people feel like they were seen and for the most part they were. Seeking to know everyone's name reminded Cassie that she was dealing with and leading people, not assets or at least not only assets. It kept her grounded and it reminded her about what was important. "It is a pleasure to meet all of you. I hope you're enjoying yourselves. From what Seiya tells me you all deserve the party. You've been doing amazing work down here," she said, making sure she spoke to all of them, even the two that had yet to introduce themselves though the boy that reminded her of a festival had tipped his hat to her in an oddly charming way. She guessed that the other woman was the one known as 19 if only because her build fit with the what Cassie had been told about her past. She was not a major concern. Cassie didn't mind where recruits came from and she wasn't going to hold anyone's past against them. What they did as animorphs is what mattered and she hadn't heard anything from Seiya that led her to believe the recruit was doing badly in her training. As she looked around at the others she started putting faces to the brief reports she'd gotten on each recruit. Gage, the kid from Union, one of their strongest ally cities, Sable, the quiet young man who seemed to have a knack for subtly, Paul, the young American recruit that had actually arrived at training with a bicycle in tow. She supposed that the last must be Xander since she had met Joel and there weren't any other male students here. "Where are you all from?"

Sable’s gaze fixed on the woman again, since she didn’t seem like a student here that must mean she was a teacher or leader of some sort? Being with the intimidating Seiya further guaranteed it. Reaching up with his other hand he brushed strands of white-blonde hair off his face, just as Cassie asked her question. Personally Sable wasn’t one for making conversation. Again he wasn’t very sociable. He wasn’t in costume or anything for this and he was probably going to leave soon. Being in such a large group of people made him uncomfortable.
Speaking of uncomfortable he was kind of thirsty… Looking at the bowl of punch he went to go get a glass. Answering Cassie absentmindedly as he ladled some of the beverage.
“New York.”
